A long-awaited addition to the Dutch list. Being ‘trapped’ on an island, the bird conveniently stayed for one more day after its discovery moving in large circles over large parts of the island and enabling several 10s of birders from the mainland to connect. Direct comparison with Common Swift A apus when it was first seen and excellent photographic documentation enabled a safe identification of this notoriously tricky species.
